The eclipse of the sun will be seen from within a 300 km wide track that traverses half of Earth. This shadow of the moon will begin in Africa and will cross Chad, Central African Republic, Democratic Republican Congo, Uganda, Kenya and Somalia.
After departing Africa, the path will course through the Indian ocean where the maximum duration of the solar eclipse annularity will reach 11 minutes and 8 seconds.

The best location to view the solar eclipse in India is between Kodandaramar Temple islet and Dhanushkodi. The duration of this eclipse is said to be the longest so far and won’t be exceeded for another 1000 years.
