For Mac users, you can just download the Microsoft Office Open XML File Format Converter here. This utility will convert .DOCX to .RTF or rich text format, which in return, allow you to now view the document file in Mac word processors.
Lastly, for those using OpenOffice or StarOffice, you can download the free Open XML Translator from SourceForge here. This will allow you to convert .DOCX Word documents to .ODF files and vice versa.
