Today is the Daytona 500 Qualifying race live at Daytona Beach, Florida. The Daytona 500 is a 500 miles (804.7 km)-long NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race held annually at the Daytona International Speedway.

The event serves as the final event of Speedweeks and is sometimes referred to as “The Great American Race” or the “Super Bowl of Stock Car Racing.” Currently, Matt Kenseth is the defending champion of the race.

For those who do not know how qualifying for the Daytona 500 goes, it’s like this – the top two qualifiers today are on the front row. The top 35 in owner’s points from last year are in, however their starting position is determined by how they finish in Thursday’s Duels.

The top three or four drivers in today’s qualifying who are not in the top 35 will also get in. That leaves four to five spots still up for grabs in the Duels.
