Dell Latitude Z Specs and Review
Written under: Technology
Dell has a new slim laptop retailing for around $2,799. The Dell Latitude Z is a business PC with a sleek design – an ultra-thin large-screen notebook.
The notebook has a 16-inch HD display and runs on 1.4 GHz. Intel Core 2 Duo processor. It can have two 265 GB hard drives, 2GB memory and features a multi-touch trackpad that supports pinch and zoom.

The most interesting feature of this notebook would have to be the wireless charging. The Latitude Z can sit on a purpose-built stand designed to charge up its batteries without a physical connection. An optional extra that will cost you back $395 when you buy the notebook.
Other features include the touchscreen display. Slide your fingers vertically along the frame and a tool bar will pop up that lets you choose common applications like email, photos, and camera.
The Dell Latitude Z has a 2-megapixel “smart” camera. Why smart? Well, you can just hold a business card in front of it and it scans and saves the information to Microsoft Outlook. Show a sheet of paper and it saves as PDF.
The camera also has face-recognition capability which can be used as a security feature. There’s also a fingerprint reader and a contact less smart card reader.
There’s also a “Latitude On” mode where users can only have access to email and browse the internet nothing else (i.e. Microsoft Office, etc.) This mode gives the notebook an extended battery life of up to 12 hours, claims Dell.
