February 4 is National Wear Red Day to create awareness for the number one killer in women – heart disease.

This was announced by Former first lady Laura Bush who just asked people across the US to wear red today to show support for the cause. A campaign spearheaded by the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute’s The Heart Truth campaign.

Mrs. Bush says, “It’s a really great way to get the word out to everyone you know that you really can prevent heart disease and that women are really affected by heart disease, it’s not just a mans disease.”

If you would like to participate, you can just upload a photo of yourself or with a group wearing red on Facebook and perhaps write about what you are doing to protect your heart health.

On Monday, February 7, The Heart Truth will choose one photo and testimonial to be featured on the home page of The Heart Truth Web pages.
