Survivor Palau reality-star contestant, Jennifer Lyon, had succumbed to cancer at the age of 37. She finished fourth place in Survivor last 2005 and on Tuesday, has ended her nearly five year battle with the disease.

Jennifer Lyon was first diagnosed with breast cancer at age 33 in 2005. In an interview with People magazine, she says, “In the summer of 2004, I felt something in my right breast that didn’t feel normal. I thought it was probably scar tissue related to my breast implants. So I let it go for a long time.”

She underwent a double mastectomy and chemotherapy treatment in an attempt to battle the cancer and was an outspoken advocate for breast cancer charities.

But now, many are speculating that Jennifer Lyon’s cancer might have been caused by her implants which now sparks renewed debate on the safety of such plastic surgeries.
