In an interview by Examiner, Josh Hamilton says:

I’m embarrassed about it. For the Rangers, I’m embarrassed about it. For my wife, my kids. It’s one of those things that just reinforces about alcohol.

Unfortunately, it happened. It just reinforces to me that if I’m out there getting ready for a season and taking my focus off the most important thing in my recovery, which is my relationship with Christ, it’s amazing how those things creep back in.

Honestly, I hate that this happened. But it is what it is. You deal with it. I realized that, obviously, I’m not perfect, in this on-going struggle, battle, that is very real. A lot of people don’t understand how real it is.

As soon as it happened, I called my support system – my wife, the Rangers, MLB and told them what had happened. I was absolutely open and honest about it.

For Josh Hamilton: No matter how many people try to tear you down…keep your head up and keep fighting the good fight. We all fall, and thank God for forgiveness.

  2. Kevin C. says:

Josh – You have only a DAILY REPRIEVE from drugs and alcohol. The closer you draw yourself to the Lord, the more He discloses Himself to you. You are a Real Man to take admit and take responsibility for your actions. Keep moving forward one day at a time.

Are you guys kidding me? Giving this hack credit? This is like a guy who keeps stealing cars. Tells you once he gets caught that he’s saved now and he’s changed. Then gets caught in a week and says he “slipped” in his faith and still loves God. Hypocrite and just another example of why people don’t take Christianity that seriously in the world. We need better role models like Albert Pujols. He is a born again Christian and I believe him. Not once in his 9 years in the spot light has he done any of this ignorant b.s.

  4. Ashley M says:

I understand that Josh Hamilton made a mistake, but everyone does. Calling someone a hypocrite because he messed up is hypocrisy. Josh is a very stong man and has an unbelievable life story. Not only is he a great person, but he is a prime example of one of the strongest points in Christianity. Forgiveness. He is a very good man and I have no doubt that the Lord will see him through this.

Judge not, and ye shall not be judged: condemn not, and ye shall not be condemned: forgive, and ye shall be forgiven.
    -Luke 6:37

  5. Jon says:

If you know anything about the disease of addiction you know how hard it is and no matter how long you are sober for you can relapse at any given moment. Josh is my Hero, like josh I am an addict and seeing him not only bounce back from drugs and be sucessful, but to be as great as he is now is remarkable. I personally know how hard it is to stay sober and belive me the disease stays with you forever.

  6. Joseph says:

Don’t judge Josh. He is a strong Christian that admits to him personally making all of his bad choices on his own. He found God and did not beg for God to make the addiction go away, but he prayed to God and told him do what you want with me. God chose to help Josh with his addiction only after he had admitted to himself that all the bad decisions he made were noones fault but his own. You people that judge him might just be jealous that God decided to help him in a different way compared to people closely around you or you personally. Don’t judge anyone. We all sin, but God is always there for you and he loves us all.
