Leonids Meteor Shower 2009
Written under: Human Interest, ScienceAre you ready to watch the Leonids meteor shower 2009? The peak will be on November 17 and depending on where you are, you will be able to see from 30 to 300 shooting stars per hour.
The peak time will be 4:45 PM ET which means that the Leonids meteor shower 2009 will be invisible for those in North America and Europe. But watch around 2:00 AM to 4:00 AM ET and you’ll see around 40 meteors per hour.

The best place to watch the Leonids meteor shower 2009 will be in Asia, where the peak happens just before dawn.
The Leonids meteor shower radiates from the constellation Leo, the lion, which rises above the northeastern horizon.
Like other meteor showers, such as the Perseids and the Orionids, the Leonids happen when Earth plows through a trail of debris left in the wake of a comet orbiting the sun.

I believe you are wrong. every site i have looked at states that North America and Europe will peak in the early morning hours between 1 and 5
Sounds right to me. Both are saying the same-ish. Human Interst is probably most techically correct and a huge THANKS! anrew is right in the fact that is when it will peak in N America in EST. I was hoping it’d be great awter sun down, but that looks unlikely. I guess I’ll get my tail outa bed at 2am… Thanks so much!
I live up in northern Minnesota, there is little light pollution here and every year I have had an amazing view of the leonids showers! I decided to setup a couple cameras with live feeds to share my view with others. If you’re interested you can check it out at my website here: http://tinyurl.com/watch-leonid-meteor-live
