LifeLock To Repay Customers For Misleading Identity Theft Ads
Written under: Finance, Human Interest, Lifestyle
Consumers in around 35 states will split $11 million that will be paid by identity theft company LifeLock. This repayment is to settle allegations that the company’s advertising was misleading.
LifeLock ads claimed to guarantee protection of user’s personal information. But the Federal Trade Commission or FTC says that LifeLock is leading its customers to believe that the company can protect them against all types of identity theft.

The settlement will resolve allegations that LifeLock misrepresented the services that would be provided to protect or alert consumers if their information was compromised.
Lastly, as a requirement of the agreement with federal and state authorities, LifeLock can no longer overstate the risk of identity theft and cannot say that its services can protect or eliminate the risk of identity theft.
