Although there have been rumors about a Mar Roxas – Noynoy Aquino tandem for the Philippine Presidential and Vice Presidential elections in 2010, Roxas has issued a statement today that there has been “no serious talk” yet between him and Liberal partymate Aquino.

Roxas says that there will be time for such talks later, but not now as he believes that the Aquino family is still in mourning.

Roxas further says:

Yung hamon ng panahon. Yung hamon na ipagpatuloy ang legacy ng kanyang ama’t ina ay hindi niya tatalikdan ito.

Translation: That’s the challenge of the times. He will not turn his back on the challenge to continue the legacy of his father and mother

Fellow partymate Sen. Rodolfo Biazon stressed that the Liberal Party is gearing up for Roxas to be its standard bearer next year. The question whether his running partner will be Aquino is still under contention.
