Microsoft Corp recently said that it is eliminating 800 jobs worldwide as part of a larger effort to cut costs and increase efficiency, a company spokesperson said.

Those cuts are actually in addition to the 5,000 global layoffs that Microsoft disclosed in January this year.

When the cuts are completed, Microsoft expects to have a global headcount of 88,000, a company spokesperson said.
