If you visit Wikipedia on January 18, don’t be surprised that you’ll only see a black screen. They, along with several other websites is doing a blackout protest against SOPA, or the Stop Online Piracy Act that is being pushed through by the U.S. legislation.
The situation has escalated to such a level against the House’s Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA) and the Senate’s Protect Intellectual Property Act (PIPA) that Wikipedia and Reddit, along with other internet websites are sacrificing a day’s worth of revenue and risk to spread information about SOPA and PIPA.
