Nexus One vs iPhone vs Droid vs Palm Pre
Written under: Technology
Google and HTC has just released it’s newest mobile phone that will hit the market – the Nexus One. But how does the Google Phone compare to the competition of smartphones?
Well, BillShrink.com presents this comprehensive guide below that compares the Google Nexus One to the Apple iPhone, Motorolla Droid and even the Palm Pre.

Nexus One vs iPhone vs Droid vs Palm Pre

Non-one cellphone going to be like the iPhone
Iphone is the best.
The average AT&T and iPhone user does not pay for an upgrade to unlimited messaging. This cost comparison is bogus.
Seems pretty obvious that the Palm Pre and iPhone come in last with this comparison. If you want a simple phone with a simple UI, get the iPhone.
There’s over 1000 apps in the Pre’s app catalog now. Not much but it makes a difference.
But the average AT&T and iPhone user does pay for an upgrade to the voice plan.
The price difference is for unlimited voice and txt vs limited plans

The comparison is brainless! Yeah how many apps in these catalog do the exact same thing? Furthermore I don’t need an app to sync my contacts, Facebook contacts, email, etc. It’s part of the OS. IM is part of the OS. Apps are outdated! Most of the apps out have a mobile site equivalent, and the phones in the comparison can handle most real websites rather painlessly. m.weather.com works as fast and has the same functionality as the weather channel app. Tip calculators and brainless games aren’t functional apps.
All these phones provide a different way of doing the same thing. Don’t let marketing fool you. Most of us will pick the one our carrier is on because it’s the cheapest upgrade available.
Not to mention nearly 1500 additional homebrew apps and patches available for the palm pre. Nor to mention that a many of the 90,000+ apps for the iphone dont do diddly anything that anyone can find useful or dont work at all. Also included would be the thousands that simply do the same thing as thousands of other apps just developed by someone else and called something different.
I let go my iphone and bought Motorola Droid, and its working out great for me. Android is way more robust than iPhone’s OS.
I agree the cost comparison is skewed. I have the Pre with Sprint and my costs are much lower. In fact several other reviews have stated Sprint offers the lowest data plans. The sleek design (looks really good and feels great in my hand)and awesome multitasking features sold me on the phone.
I personally think the Pre is best and best value.
258 Palm Pre Apps?
1000?
Hey come on guys, Palm started this business almost 1 1/2 decades ago. Almost all of their previous apps work on the Palm Pre when the app “Classic”, a Palm OS emulator, is installed. That adds well over 50,000 apps.
Then of course there are the 3rd party apps for the Palm Pre available through Homebrew which, being outside of the official App Catalog, are not prohibited by Palm and instead fully encouraged by Palm (totally unlike iPhone’s jailbroken apps).
Keep in mind the Pre can sync with the recent past versions of iTunes for music, photos and videos.
One last note, there are aprox. 4000 iPhone web apps that can be ported over to the Pre. But that’s constantly increasing.
Unbiased comparison of iphone and droid…
*iphone definately loads youtube vids faster
*droid gps works faster, much better search methods with voice
*iphone multitouch works great for navigation, better than droid
*droid phone kicks the iphone in the face, better sound, easier to dial and use contacts, better contact integration and OMG it works everywhere
* iphone has very poor coverage in my area, constantly no 3G, can’t call out in places droid has full service?????
* definately like the multitask on droid
* iPhone has more apps, but the ones I use regularly are avail for both (give them a tie here)
*i like iTunes, didn’t find anything comparable for droid
Overall, droid has my vote if you are in need of a phone
Its too early to comments on this cell
If you get an iPod Touch then you can have access to all of the iPhone apps and use your Palm Pixi for phone stuff. The two are both thin enough to fit in one pocket.
