Olympic Torch Malfunction Leaves Le May Doan With No Cauldron To Light
Written under: Human Interest, Sports
The Vancouver Olympics opening ceremonies would have been perfect if not for the Olympic Torch malfunction which left Catriona Le May Doan, one of the four final torchbearers, standing during the lighting, with no cauldron to light.
Because of a mechanical problem, only three of the four sections surrounding the Olympic cauldron emerged from below the stadium.

However, the other sections had no problem which eventually lit the central burner. And amidst this incident, everyone was still joyous of the celebration.
Many say that this moment is proof that the Olympics is truly a personal human experience and sometimes, we cannot predict what will happen – as in the case of Georgian luger Nodar Kumaritashvili, to whom this ceremony was dedicated.
