The longest solar eclipse of the century will happen on July 22, 2009. It will last for 6 minutes and 39 seconds and will be visible in parts of India, Butan, Nepal, Bangladesh, China, Japan, and the Marshall Islands.
The maximum eclipse will occur on the ocean at 02:35:21 UTC, about 100 km south of the Bonin Islands, southeast of Japan. The island of North Iwo Jima is the landmass with the longest totality time.
