UFC 104: Machida vs Shogun Rua Disappoints Fans
Written under: SportsThe main fight card results of UFC 104 has disappointed many MMA fans with the winning of Lyoto “The Dragon” Machida via unanimous decision against Mauricio “Shogun” Rua.
Bruce Buffer read the scores of the fight and the audience went on a collective shock, followed by loud boos. The scores were 48-47 across the board, for Machida.
Fans saw what they believe was a superb strategic fight by Mauricio “Shogun” Rua and many actually predicted that he had won the light heavyweight title. However the judges obviously disagreed.
This UFC 104 result eventually led to numerous complaints from MMA fans that UFC has just become WWE.
Some even vandalized Lyoto Machida’s Wikipedia page, changing the Mixed Martial arts record as a “fixed fight”.
The Wikipedia entry has now been edited to reflect the judges’ official decision.

The fix was in!
i don’t believe the fight was fixed. i think lyoto has too much honor for that. and if it was, then he didn’t know about it. but the fight was extremely close. and i think lyoto personally believes the judges were mistaken and wants a clean, fair rematch. but then again, he had successfully defended his tital. it his hard to say. the possibilities being lyoto dodged at least 50% of shoguns strikes, and had few hits, but when they landed, they were absolutely devastating. i am a Machida fan but this fight made not question Lyoto, but question what possibly could have made the judges come up with this fight decision.
Decesion was a joke.. UFC is not legit whats so ever anymore
lets just say if lyoto machida fought him self there would be no fight, if shogun fought him self it would be epic.
Im a machida fan too, but that fight definitely seemed fixed to me. I don’t think machida had anything to do with it, but he definitely lost to shogun.
I bet shogun and laid money on him because I felt he was a great fighter and I was getting good juice.. After The fight was over I felt i had won and Great bet and Look what happened,,, If they dont overturn this fight I will start to waatch strikeForce and UFC and gone Don King,, He wreked boxing now Dana White is going to destroy MMA,.. It’s hard to defend the title when it get traded around so many tiem… would Shogun be able to defend the title if Machida was the challenger? maybe that’s why a knockout or some sort of tap out is justified to win the title?? hmm
that was a terrible dec, i wont say fixed ill just say a total b.s dec, boxing is hardet to score as the fights are much longer and style wise there are plenty of swing rounds example malignaggi vs diaz last month but this was worse then any boxing dec i have seen in years, shogun clearly won and fought a flawless fight, what a scam
Ufc is a joke…iv been thinking that for the last 3 months and this makes it even worse…im never getting another ppv from ufc again..strikeforce and dream all the way..Shogun did all the things that the ufc rules are…octagon control,aggression,striking and even got a knock down…and i am a Lyoto fan. but for this fight i was going for Shogun cause i loved him in pride and wanted him to win…down with the ufc!
What a sham. Shogun won atleast 3 rounds, no doubt about that. UFC slowly becoming WWE! I knew Machida would win, but not like this… Machida did nothing, he landed a few counter punches – Shogun did all the work and beating, which you could clearly see the damage comparison. Shogun was untouched and should have won.
Guys, relax.
I’m sure Dana’s gonna make a rematch of this fight ASAP. Probably UFC 107 or 108.
By then, expect a full war from both fighters. Machida will probably bring something new to the table and Shogun’s gonna go all out from rounds 1 to 5.
No quarter will be given.
Surely, each fighter will be going for the knockout win or the tapout to leave the judges out of the decision making.
By the way, I’m a Machida fan but Shogun’s performance in this fight really made me give him respect.

ufc always fixes fights, its just they didnt do a good job on fixing this one, no wonder fedor wont go in the ufc, makes alot of sense!

Lyoto Machida is a very good fighter and all his fights were good. F*** Shogun if there is a rematch

My jaw hit the floor when the decision was read. I immediately searched the web to see what people were saying about this, because I watched the fight closely, and it was more than obvious that Shogun was the winner. That’s why there is a decision process. If the fight is not decided by knock-out or submission, the fighter who performed best throughout the fight should be declared the winner. Title fight or not. The fight was very boring, considering that Machida did absolutely nothing to Shogun. Unbelievable if you ask me.
