A decent deal for the laptop, though hopefully folks who buy it realize how underpowered the Celeron processor is. It’s fine for web surfing and email, etc., but don’t expect to do speedy video chatting or photoshop photo editing on it. A good one to give the kids who mess with yours, saying, “you break this one, that’s it, nothing to use!”.

Processing power is overrated. 4 numbers = speed. Memory, Storage, CPU, and transfer speed (board, ethernet, etc)

This is a good deal. Next time you do all your high end activity you need a better processor for, take a look at the CPU usage in the performance tab of the task manager. If your not going over 20% you paid to much for your laptop. Peole are more effected by slow hard drives (slow I/O rates) and running out of physical memory and having to use the page/swap file.

Another CHEAP Walmart item. At $298 HP has to make money, Walmart has to make money and the consumer gets a stripped down low quality potentially problematic laptop. Consumers looking at price only need to understand how Walmart gets these deals. Something has to be sacrificed for LOW PRICES!!!

Last year they had a similar Compaq laptop (made by HP) that sold for $398. I bought three of them and they are all still operating just fine. Granted, I do not do fancy shit on a laptop…..just mail, surfing, photo sending….that kind of stuff. All three still work perfect and I would buy one again if needed.
